
The first edition of the CineSonora International Music Documentary Festival brings to Florianópolis some of the best documentaries in the genre produced in Brazil and around the world.
From September 17 to 21, the Centro Integrado de Cultura (CIC) in Florianópolis will host film and music enthusiasts for a program that includes screenings of feature and short films, music videos, and special guest sessions — all with free admission and public accessibility.

REGULATIONS OF THE CINESONORA INTERNATIONAL MUSIC DOCUMENTARY FESTIVAL 2025
​
1 – ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
​
1.1. The CineSonora International Music Documentary Festival, hereinafter referred to as the FESTIVAL, is a public screening event of audiovisual documentary works related to the world of music, in the formats of feature films, short films, and music videos, produced in Brazil and abroad. The program also includes talks and encounters with the public, filmmakers, and guest professionals.

1.2. The FESTIVAL is produced by Scult Produtora with funding from the Circuito Catarinense de Cultura – PNAB 2024 public call, part of the Brazilian Federal Government's cultural policies, managed by the Fundação Catarinense de Cultura – FCC/SC. Its objective is to promote community engagement around the rich audiovisual production related to music.

1.3. The FESTIVAL’s programming will be composed through a selection process conducted via the event’s official website, as well as invited films and music videos curated by the FESTIVAL’s organizing team, hereinafter referred to as WORKS.

2 – DATES AND VENUE
​
2.1. The FESTIVAL takes place from September 17 to 21, 2025, in Florianópolis, SC, at the Gilberto Gerlach Cinema Room and the Multimedia Room of the Museum of Image and Sound of Santa Catarina – MIS/SC, both located in the Centro Integrado de Cultura – CIC, at Avenida Gov. Irineu Bornhausen, 5600 – Agronômica, Florianópolis – SC, 88025-201.

2.2. All FESTIVAL events will be free of charge, with tickets distributed one hour before each session or entry granted on a first-come, first-served basis.

2.3. The complete program will be published on the FESTIVAL’s official website www.cinesonora.com and social media (@cinesonora), as well as through press outreach and promotional campaigns.
3 – SELECTION PROCESS
3.1. The selection process is open to audiovisual productions, either previously released or not, from any country, in the following formats: Short Films (up to 30 minutes) and Music Videos (up to 8 minutes). Submissions must be made through the online registration form available on the FESTIVAL’s official website: www.cinesonora.com

3.2. Eligible WORKS must have been completed between 2022 and the date of submission, and may be submitted by professionals or amateurs, including independent creators and audiovisual production companies, hereinafter referred to as PARTICIPANTS.
3.3. Each PARTICIPANT may submit up to three different WORKS, but only one work per director will be selected.

3.4. Submitted WORKS must be made available via digital link (with or without password), using platforms such as Vimeo, Dropbox, YouTube, Google Drive, or similar.
​
3.5. Selected works will be announced on the FESTIVAL website and social media, and the selected PARTICIPANTS will be contacted via the email address provided during registration.
4 – SELECTION TIMELINE
4.1. Submissions: from July 28, 2025 to August 20, 2025

5 – CURATION AND SELECTION
​
5.1. Curation and selection will be conducted by a committee composed of the FESTIVAL’s directors and invited professionals. Final decisions will be made by the FESTIVAL’s Artistic Direction.
​
5.2. The curatorial decisions are final and not subject to appeal or dispute by PARTICIPANTS regarding criteria or outcomes.
​
5.3. The Organizing Committee reserves the right to extend the submission deadline, disqualify previously announced films, and make changes as necessary. All decisions are final.
​
6 – TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS FOR SCREENING
​
6.1. Selected works must be submitted in one of the following formats:

.mov (QuickTime encoded), preferably in 1998x1080p (Flat) or 2048x858p (Scope) resolution
-
.mp4 (H.264 codec), 1080p (1920x1080p) resolution, with bitrate ≥10mbps, stereo or 5.1 audio

6.2. Final digital screening copies must be submitted within 10 days of the selection announcement. Failure to meet the deadline may result in disqualification.
​
6.3. Descriptive subtitles (LSE) in Portuguese and LIBRAS (Brazilian Sign Language) resources should be embedded in the video file or sent separately as:

6.4. At a minimum, Brazilian works must include Simple Subtitles or Subtitles for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (LSE). LIBRAS and audio description are encouraged.
​
7 – PROMOTIONAL MATERIALS
​
7.1. For promotional purposes and catalog publication, selected PARTICIPANTS must send the following along with the screening file:

Complete technical sheet including: synopsis, trailer, cast, crew, year of production, state, content rating, category, genre, and any additional information requested via email within five (5) business days of the selection announcement. Failure to comply may lead to disqualification.

7.2. By submitting to the FESTIVAL, PARTICIPANTS grant the FESTIVAL permission to use images, audio, photos, and promotional materials related to the WORK and its creators across all media channels.

8 – SCREENING RIGHTS
​
8.1. Screening rights for selected works and promotional use of trailers, stills, and excerpts are granted free of charge, with no financial obligation to the FESTIVAL.
​
8.2. PARTICIPANTS are fully responsible for securing all necessary copyrights and usage rights for the submitted works. The FESTIVAL is not liable for any legal claims from third parties.
​
8.3. Any irregularities in the submission process or after selection may result in disqualification, with no right to appeal.
​
9 – FINAL PROVISIONS
​
9.1. By submitting a work, the PARTICIPANT fully agrees to these regulations.
9.2. Any conduct contrary to the regulations will result in immediate disqualification.
9.3. Omitted cases will be resolved by the FESTIVAL’s Organizing Committee.
